Flashback: Donyale Luna

I just came across some gorgeous photos of supermodel Donyale Luna. For those of you not familiar with her, she was the first African American model to grace the cover of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar in the 60's.She died in the late 70's from a drug overdose.
I love these pictures because they are black and white, and you can't see Luna's signature blue contact lenses, which give her this scary look IMO. Don't you feel that these pic could be in any 2008 issue of Vogue and still be relevant to current trends? The last pic is of Donyale with the blue contacts, so you'd know what I mean.

Hot Ad: Galliano Fine jewelry

The new Gallliano fine jewelry campaign is steamy (in a tasteful artsy way). I never been a big Galliano jewelry fan, but I have a feeling that this is about to change.

Trend Alert: Ripped tights

Well this one comes at no surprise. It is the logical step after the ripped denim trend we witnessed midyear. Below are photos from Alexander Wang's show!

Shoe Maddness

To all of you shoe-fanatics out there. Resurrection vintage is featuring shoes from Marcia Beger's personal collection. According to Resurrection, fashion devotee Marcia left behind thousands of shoes and clothes that have never been worn before! Resurrection is selling tons of Louboutins, Alaia, Helmut Lang, and YSL..Most shoes are 50%. I called the store to inquire about a CL Rolando pump and was told that one person purchased all the Rolandos (there were about 6 pairs). I forgot to mention that most shoes are sizes 38-38.5.

So to all of you fellow fashion addicts I say: Get your Louboutins and CARPE DIEM, because you never know what life has in store for us.

Designer Obsession: LIMI feu

I'm always looking for talented "not-so-mainstream" designers. LIMI feu is definatley on top of my list right now. Her designs are androgynous and architectural yet simple, they kind of remind me of Ann Demeulmeester plus Rock & Roll. It comes at no surprise that Limi is the daughter of Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. I'm drooling over these oversized drop croth pants, but I can't get past the hefty price tag of $1,212. Damn labor is so expensive in Japan!

Stay tuned!

I know I've been M.I.A as of late, but I took some time off over Thanksgiving to go on vacation and now that I'm back I'm busy with school. I will be back to regular posting by the end of the week.
